Who I Am

Hello!

Hi, I'm Melissa.

I'm a 45-year-old Mexican American woman, mother to a 23 year old son, fluent in both English and Spanish, and like millions of women around the world, I'm navigating the unpredictable journey of perimenopause.

Four years ago, on my birthday, my life changed in an instant. I was sitting in a car when I experienced my very first panic attack. It came out of nowhere. I truly believed I was dying. I had no idea what was happening to me.

A few months later, the hot flashes started. Then came the anxiety, brain fog, exhaustion, mood swings, sleep problems, weight gain, and so many other symptoms that I couldn't explain. I knew something wasn't right, so I did what most women do—I went to my doctor looking for answers.

Instead, I was told I just needed to lose weight.

I left feeling unheard, confused, and completely alone.

I prayed. Lord, what is going on with me? I don’t feel myself!

As a Mexican American woman, I also realized something else. In many Latino families, perimenopause and menopause simply aren't talked about. We grow up learning about puberty, pregnancy, and motherhood, but this stage of life is often met with silence. Many of us never hear our mothers, grandmothers, or aunts talk about what they experienced, leaving us unprepared and wondering what's happening to our bodies. That silence can make an already difficult journey feel even more isolating.

What I didn't realize then was that I wasn't alone at all. Millions of women are experiencing the same symptoms, asking the same questions, and searching for answers. Too many of us are dismissed, misunderstood, or told our symptoms are simply a part of getting older. We deserve better.

That's why I created this space.

My passion is to educate, encourage, and empower women through every stage of perimenopause. I also include my faith, my belief in God. He has guided me and been with me through everything. I want to especially help women in the Latino community break the silence surrounding this season of life while creating a welcoming place for women of every background. My goal is to share the information I wish I had when my journey began, provide a safe community where women feel seen and heard, and remind you that what you're experiencing is real.

Whether you're just beginning to notice changes or you've been struggling for years, you don't have to face this alone.

Together, we'll learn, grow, laugh, cry, and support one another. We'll advocate for ourselves, celebrate our victories, and remind each other that this season does not define us—it reveals just how strong we truly are.

Welcome to our community.

I'm so grateful you're here, and I can't wait to walk this journey with you.

With love,

Melissa
